Job description

About Differential

Differential is growing! Yep, it turns out clients like us :) Our team of designers, developers, jokesters, and all around good folk needs more firepower. We’re proudly headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, but our team spans across the country.

If you want to define, design, craft, and ship real product for a fast-paced digital products company – this may be the role for you. We make technology that moves people towards one another. We’re building the Apollos platform—mobile apps, web apps, tv apps, and payments platforms.

At Differential, we’re looking for a Product Lead who can take raw ideas and turn them into clear, build-ready product design and requirements, fast and with excellence. We are seeking someone who has that builder first mentality. Someone with high autonomy, high ownership who wants to come in, drive the product process and GSD.

We are not handing you a polished system. You will be responsible for creating clarity where there is none. You must be able to reason from first principles. Take in context from everywhere, and craft beautiful product design and taste in every aspect of the solution. Every week new ideas hit the table, we are looking for them to be turned into ready-to-build product designs and requirements that compress the complexity of business needs, customer needs, and end user needs into a clear product roadmap.

We need a Product person who can take these ideas, shape them into clear product direction, translate them into business requirements, design and technical requirements, and get them ready for engineering to build — within days, not weeks. You have to understand our FinTech platform, compliance constraints, and the technical architecture to drive real product value. Maybe you are a former founder, startup builder, or early product leader looking for your next thing, and this could be the perfect opportunity.

If you’re not used to having your hands on the keyboard, this role might not be for you. If you need a lot of direction and guidance, this role is not for you. If you can take high-level business objectives and drive it to clear product requirements and visual design, then you may love this job. You are someone who Knows What To Do.

This role is critical to how we move our product, and our business, forward. 🚀

You’ll be taking on the responsibility to sit in a unique seat where you get to work directly with our CEO and CPO. Are you ready?

Job requirements

What you can expect to do:

  • Turn ambiguity into clarity. Take rough ideas and define a clear product roadmap.

  • Own FinTech product end-to-end. Strategy, roadmap execution, outcomes — from idea → shaping → build → launch.

  • Manage and maintain the roadmap in Linear: creating and shaping the right Projects, driving product requirement clarity for those projects, organizing those projects into sprints, and keeping priorities current.

  • Translate ideas into both visual design (UX, flows, prototypes) and technical requirements.

  • Work directly with engineers to bring ideas to life, no throwing things over the wall.

  • Move fast! Idea on Monday → ready for betting by end of week.

  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate thinking, prototyping, and output.

  • Drive product quality and UX, ensuring what we ship is intuitive and high-impact.

  • Create momentum, keep the product moving forward and land the plane consistently.

  • Know how to drive revenue with Product-led growth strategies.

What we’re after:

  • You’ve shipped financial products. You've built payment flows, checkout experiences, donation platforms, or fintech products. You understand the unique UX challenges of money, trust, clarity, error handling, and compliance.

  • Stripe and payments platform knowledge. You've designed interfaces that sit on top of Stripe (or similar payment infrastructure). Bonus if you've worked with Stripe Connect, connected accounts, or marketplace payment flows.

  • A doer, not a manager. You can roll up your sleeves with the team to get stuff done. You lead from the front. You know how to GSD.

  • Someone who has the grit to ship products in addition to planning them.

  • Ability to think, design, and specify in one continuous flow.

  • Strong product taste and UX intuition.

  • High autonomy – You know what to do and do it.

  • Clear communicator, with both engineers and executives.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

  • Experience with Linear, Figma, Claude Code, and adaptability to adopt tools that accelerate outcomes.

Your Background:

  • FinTech Experience with giving or donation platforms. You've worked at or designed for companies like Givebutter, GoFundMe, or similar. You understand donor psychology, conversion optimization, and recurring giving patterns.

  • Startup experience - Are you a former Founder or worked on a small team with high responsibility? Lots of us are previous Founders.

  • Design experience - you’ve designed UI, you’ve agonized over UX, and have thought at the micro and macro level of design.

  • Technical experience - you deeply understand how software is built and the technical processes involved. You’ve designed and built mobile apps.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Taking ownership of FinTech product direction and execution.

  • Collaborating by turning fuzzy ideas into clear, actionable product plans.

  • Creating build-ready product requirements for engineering teams.

  • Designing user flows, experiences, and lightweight prototypes.

  • Ensuring alignment between product vision and what is actually shipped.

  • Driving speed, clarity, and accountability in the product process.

  • Helping establish a repeatable system for turning ideas into shipped product.

  • Automate much of the system and process with new AI tools and capabilities.

  • Deep expert-level knowledge and understanding of core FinTech APIs, capabilities, and compliance environments.
